Linux System Administration
Unix Support gives a five day hands-on Linux system administration course. This is a copy of student notes (nearly 230 pages of them) in PDF and PostScript formats.
- The whole document PDF(2.1 MB), PostScript(5.2 MB), Gzipped PostScript(1.3 MB), LaTeX gzipped tarball(4.9 MB).
The course is geared up for administrators of Red Hat Linux 9 (as of the current set of notes) systems within the University of Cambridge. Others are welcome to make use of the notes but please be aware there are Cambridge-specific details in them.
The course requires:
- Familiarity with the

shell - Familiarity with at least one of

,emacs
orpico -w
. - Experience of using Linux!
Earlier versions of this course included some content which has now been moved to the Further Use of Unix course.
