Running the daemon
ServerType standalone
- The daemon is not going to rely on
inetd
but will run
permanently.
Port 80
- This is the standard port for WWW services. It is
privileged on a Unix system so must be opened by
root
. Once opened, the port can be passed to
unprivileged services.
User www
Group www
- These specify the user and group the daemon will convert to,
losing the
root
privileges it has at launch.
ServerRoot /etc/httpd
- All relative filepaths referenced in the configuration are
relative to this.
